About the McLean County UNA The United Nations Association of McLean County is one of the original founding chapters of the United Nations Association of the United States (UNA-USA). Since the 1960's the local chapter has promoted the United States participation in the UN, and brought issues of global importance into the ambit of the local community. Among its efforts has been the establishment of the Adlai Stevenson lecture series.
The McLean County chapter has hosted lectures on such issues as human rights, international peace and security and women and development. It has promoted educational opportunities for its members and Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan University students. It has also organized special events on international affairs for more than four decades. The McLean County UNA contributes locally to the national UNA-USA efforts to promote public education and research, substantive policy analysis, and a public dialogue between the United States and the United Nations. Through its association with the UNA-USA, the McLean County UNA also participates in a larger network of the United Nations Associations around the world.
